I wasn't sure what to expect. I read the reviews, and they were very impressive, but also very few. I searched the Internet for reviews outside of Amazon trying to find anything negative or even neutral about this guitar on the web, only to find a handful of other very favorable reviews. So after a fair amount of due diligence I took a chance and ordered mine. And am I glad I did!
I'm no "Guitar God" by any means. But I am familiar with the Epiphone Les Paul, Squier Strat and Fender Standard Strat. And I'll take my Silvertone over any of them.
The sound, tone, and feel is great. It is very well made by Samick for Silvertone, and is an absolutely beautiful guitar.
And that's only half of the story. The other part that's really cool is dealing with Scott at American Music Outlet. I emailed Scott a few times with questions after placing my order, and he was consistently prompt and professional in his response. I was never made to feel like the pain in the neck that I probably was, and instead was treated like a valuable customer making for a great customer experience.
The only problem is I kind of feel guilty for having paid so little, because it could easily sell for two or three times the price. Honestly, if you pick up this guitar and compare it to other more expensive models you'll really appreciate the value this guitar provides.
If you want a Les Paul style of guitar and aren't overly "logo-conscious," I highly recommend this guitar and American Music Outlet. You'll be very pleased with your purchase.
I did swap out the strings when I unpacked it. I can't fault the stock strings, because I never really tried them out, this was just something I planned on doing when I placed my order. I also adjusted the humbuckers a bit for higher action. But these are just my personal preferences. All in all, I am a completely happy customer.
