I've been playing for over 20 years, and I was really excited when my 7 year old daughter asked for a guitar for Christmas. I bought her a mini strat in red after trying it out a guitar center. It plays amazing for something in this price range! Yes, the strings are a little slack, but that's not bad for a new player with small hands. It's a great size and weight for a small player. She's a 3/4-side person (at just over 4 ft tall), so I figure a 3/4 sized guitar is perfect.
My daughter feels like a total rock star when she puts it on and has been practicing basic chords and scales for the past month. She's really starting to get the hang of it.
